Girls’ Steering Committee (GSC)
At HOPE for Girls @VISA, we believe that the most powerful voices in shaping our work are the girls themselves. That is why we created the Girls’ Steering Committee (GSC)– a leadership body made up of alumni and current beneficiaries, elected every three years through a nomination process.
Representatives are chosen from primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education, ensuring that every stage of the girl’s journey is represented. These seven representatives ensure that girls’ voices guide everything we do- from designing programs to evaluating impact.
The GSC is more than a committee- it is a platform for leadership, agency and accountability. It empowers girls to not only benefit from the program, but also to lead and shape the movement to end FGM, early marriage and gender inequality. “Nothing about us without us.”
Through this committee, both alumni and current beneficiaries shape our programs by contributing their voices to design, implementation and evaluation. They co-create proposals, recommend interventions, oversee project activities and provide feedback to ensure that every initiative truly reflects the realities and aspirations of girls themselves.
When you support HOPE for Girls @ VISA, you are not just funding projects- you are investing in girls leading the way towards a future free from FGM, early marriage and inequality.
By amplifying girls’ voices, you help shape programs that truly transform lives.
